Even if this were another country and joe Biden was in another party both his and AoC’s parties would likely be in a coalition government and still dependent on each other.
That’s my favorite aspect of International House Hunters: People, for whatever reason, are moving to foreign countries, and would like open floor plans because they love to entertain. Open floor plans are not as common as in the US, so that causes strife.
This is true. Back in my old apartment, I could use a space heater to warm up my living room/dining room area. Now, with my townhouse, The first floor is one big rec room and the second floor is one big dining room/living room twice the size of my apartment version. The only reason my kitchen isn’t open to the rest of…
To be fair, in HGTV world they need open floor plans because of all the parties they throw because everyone loves to entertain so damn much.
Open floor plans are crap. In addition to all the salient and excellent reasons against them previously noted by others, who the fuck wants their cooking smells all over the house/apartment?
My old-ass house has a door between the kitchen and the dining/living room and I LOVE it that way. Sometimes you want actual separation between room and people.
Yes! If my kids are watching some horrifying YouTube nonsense in the living room, I really want to be able to close the door so I can listen to music while I cook in the kitchen or read a book in the den. Open floor plan means now we’re all forced to watch fratty adults play adolescent pranks on each other.
Should I ever have the disposable income to have a whole lot of options when it comes to upgrading my living situation, my number one demand is “no open floor plan.” There’s nothing relaxing about sitting in a bank lobby.
Fuck open floor plans. Your kids can take a breath without you watching over them, I promise. You can also go without seeing the TV at all times (I say this as a devout TV watcher).
Alright “traditional” Methodists, time to read up on the Southern Baptists (created in 1845 when congregations broke away from the Baptists in order to continue to be pro-slavery). A century from now, do you want to be known as the Methodists who opposed civil rights? Then by all means, become a “traditional” sect.
“the best means to resolve our differences, allowing each part of the Church to remain true to its theological understanding while recognizing the dignity, equality, integrity, and respect of every person.”
I have to think that if you’re forming a splinter group to “Get back to traditional values” you are on the wrong, abusive side of history, like the Pilgrims, or Warren Jeffs.
I think the reason was in Gardner’s will it stated they were supposed to leave the house as-is, which explains why there’s no signage, air conditioning, or crowd control.
It’s like Lee Atwater admitting to and atoning for his 20 year career of the most evil conservative politics - one month before he died at age 40.
I get that he’s the Pope of the people and all that, but he still doesn’t deserve to be grabbed—he’s not public property. Because if some guy had grabbed a woman like that, and she had slapped his hand away, we’d probably think it was OK, right?
Yeah, the Met Gala is Example #1 on how the art world seems to cater almost exclusively to rich people, most of whom will never donate to the museum anyway - sure, there’s a fee to go but I guarantee more money is spent on dresses than goes to the Met.
I honestly don’t blame him. I don’t care who the person is, you should not grab them unless you are pulling them out of the path of a moving car or they are on fire.
Yeah, we visited the Gardner last year on out trip to Boston and man, that might be one of the crappiest “good museums” I’ve ever been to. It was hot, dark, crowded, you couldn’t see half the art, and I wanted to slather myself in hand sanitizer every time I had to look at one of those dumb laminated sheets.
Im always in the greys, but as a current museum studies student who helped unionize the last museum I worked at, I feel like the target audience for this article.
