You haven’t heard all of them.
You haven’t heard all of them.
Eh. I have ancestors from Switzerland and Germany, and I doubt we’ve spoken German in my family since the 18th century. And I certainly don’t speak English in a manner remotely like my ancestors who came to America in the 17th century. I’m old enough to recognize and accept the changes in American English as evolution…
There are quite a few regional American accents I do not miss.
My parents are from the Missouri Ozarks, and while they didn’t have heavy accents, they did pronounce some words oddly. They both worked on pronunciation when they moved out west, first to Nevada, then California.
I use non-stick pans, and I always use grapeseed oil at least. I’ll even use a spray of grapeseed oil when I’m planning to use butter or olive oil.
I picked up a set of Tramontina (8", 10" and 12") at Costco for $27 on sale. Best deal I’ve ever seen, and they work great. When they finally wear out, I won’t feel guilty about replacing them.
I have a ‘98 Mercury Grand Marquis, and it did not hold up so well. It reached the point at around 120,000 that it would have cost nearly $8,000 to repair everything, and I had already had to replace the intake manifold. That was one of the years that there were lots of issues with the electrical systems, and the…
If you’re happy with your hairdresser, then stick with them. If not, and they’re not willing to help you change things up (my stylist loves that I come in with a different style nearly every time—my hair is short and grows fast, so a style is gone within three months), then go somewhere else. The problem is when the…
My last therapist was Richard Fisch at MRI. I was his last patient that he saw for therapy. I was very upset for myself, but happy for him, when he retired. He left me a stronger person, and with one comment in one session, he started me on the road to remaking my life.
I’ve been through the process a few times and I broke up by phone when necessary. This is the option necessary when the therapy isn’t helping. If you’ve worked with a therapist and everything’s hunky dory, then it may be fine to do so in person. However, if the therapy is not working, or making things worse, then a…
I’ve quit by phone twice. One therapist was a great listener, but she never actually helped me how to deal. The other was a family therapist we were referred to, with glowing recommendations—she even taught at the local college—, and she was terrible. We were in worse shape than when we started. I called and left a…
Welcome to the club! I was never the kid that thought it would never happen to me. Friends permanently handicapped from driving drunk: never gonna drink and drive. Rattlesnakes were common around my house: carefully avoided rock formations or odd holes while outside. Bears live in the mountains: no thank you to…
Years ago, with the last dog, we switched over from Purina (it was the 80s) to a new lamb and rice food. The change in our dog was amazing. Energy, coat, attitude all improved significantly. I believe it’s one reason he lived longer than the breed average.
There’s a big settlement of polygamy/incesty Mormons in Canada. So far, the government has left them alone, but we’ll see if that lasts.
I’d prefer seeing Drogon eat Cersei, but I guess we have to stick to the prophecies.
From the amount of blood, I’d say she bled out while giving birth. She’s alone in a tower, far from home, after hard travel, her body weakened, probably hungry and thirsty, and pushing out a baby with no help. Even with modern medicine, women will still occasionally bleed out.
Randall Park is playing a Chinese character in Fresh Off the Boat.
Gods, yes, the mental gymnastics I do sometimes, but I love prime and I have prime fresh delivery to my home, and it’s been great. A few glitches, but mostly awesome.
So true.
A castle that’s a hotel.
