I was lucky. My kids were three years apart, but my older son is aspergery and very sweet and patient with younger kids, so he played happily with his little brother. This worked pretty well until they were teenagers.

I went to lunch the other day with a friend who is a naturalized citizen who was born in Mexico. She is dark, petite, and still has a bit of an accent. The city we are in is a staunchly white GOP part of Silicon Valley.
