Cattle are not fed grain for their entire lives. They are put in feedlots for the last few weeks of their lives, and stuffed with grain. Otherwise, they’re living on grazing. It would be entirely too expensive to grain feed cattle for a year. The grain that they are fed is also not of the quality needed to feed humans.
