Yeah, they wont get it and don't get it. When the head of the penis starts being removed then a comparison might be fair. It is a complete lack of sensitivity on the part of those people who bring it up ("my splinter is as bad as your stab wound").

I loved having the Darkworlds by HP Lovecraft read to me if that helps. If you want something with a little less racism they have plenty of John Wyndham stories, Day of the Triffids for one.
