Glad I'm not the only one. And this is a problem I had with season 2 of The Knick as well. Yes we dealing with slavery, but c'mon. The need to make these characters suffer even more while reinforcing the supremacy of white folk is..maddening.

Sigh. I'm not. There's a great play called Death Of A Kings Horseman - it has an Algernon type character in it. It is set in colonial Nigeria. It has a very tragic ending. But the character is his own person. He doesn't allow life to happen to him. He's no "Tragic Negro" though his story ends tragically.

And snooping in someone's office is NOT ruthless. It was the mos tame reaction to such slight. I mean come on. Lucy stole cocaine from a hospital for her BOYFRIEND.
