Is embedding full playthroughs of games featured on your slideshows a permanent thing now? 

I love the tilt to action and hack-and-slash gameplay. I like the turn-based FFs of old (or even up till XIII actually) and always wondered what an FF game that played like DMC would be. XV kinda provided that experience for me and then VIII: Intergrade blew it out of the water for me, so XVI only looks to buy more of…

I think it’s got more to do with the mood of both those games. One’s a plucky adventure while the other is a melancholic race against a moon emoji.

Venba is obviously on top of my list (my comment history will betray the amount of adulation I have for both the game and the Visai team). I’m not an NRI but I am a South Indian so this one’s still quite personal to me. And the demo is a great taster for what’s to come.

I really liked the Jet Set Radio meets DMC vibe the game was going for. But I’d like to know why it didn’t work out for you.

I’m actually quite surprised that Pizza Tower didn’t make the list. It cured my Wario Land itch and is one of the funniest games I’ve played recently. 

This was the redemption arc I’d always wanted for the franchise. So many riffs on ideas from other fighting games (both within Capcom and without), but blended to make in Tenacious D’s words, “a good, good goulash. Baby!!”. I’m not entirely on board for their Battle Pass system but hey I’m going to be playing…

Hot take: Bungie needs to do a remaster of Oni. We haven’t had a discount third-person Ghost In The Shell action game with complicated-but-fun melee combat mechanics in ages now.
