It’s hard to believe Daryl is pushing 70. This Daryl’s House thing has really revived his career. Great tunes, great guests, and as you mention, he's got the boys playing tight!
Great engineers for sure, or who knows, maybe there's some magic in the place like there was at Muscle Shoals!
I still don’t understand how Daryl can get his barn or living room to sound better than most recording studios. He must have the best audio engineers in the world at that place.
As someone who is adamantly anti-cover and anti-mashup, this is in no way better than the original but still makes me thankful we live in a world where we don't have to pick just one.
I forgot to do this one yesterday:
She cut some great tracks.
“Magic Feeling” - Lancelot Link and the Evolution Revolution
From Stax records. Wendy Rene. After laughter comes tears. You’ll note Wutang cribbed something from this
Travis McCoy pays a visit to Daryl’s House as they cover Harold and the Blue Notes “Wake Up Everybody”.
It’s nestled between the rapid sample cuts at the tail end of Three Feet High and Rising’s opening song but it showcases the album’s irreverence that’s not-quite indignity, the lack of pretense that’s not-quite abstraction, the satire that’s not-quite parody… just in case the game show introduction didn’t do it…
K’s Choice - Not an Addict (Acoustic)
You know that I care what happens to you
‘Pride In Prejudice’ - Slayer
Thank you for your continued support of Deadspin. We are ready to attack tonight with enthusiasm unknown to mankind.
You forgot to mention that she was against gay rights and one of her son’s is gay. I really hope there is a hell, especially for someone like this woman.
I honestly don’t get her and people liked her (Scalia, etc.). I get the desire to promote your personal, often religious values because you think it’s best for others. It’s a bit misguided, patriarchal, etc., but at least your heart is (generally) in the right place.
I love the Marchman takedown. Visceral, yet thoughtful, yet unrelenting.
