I’d initially argue that your distillation - that “women are not biologically female” is in fact not a mundane position; it’s arguing that trans women aren’t women, and as such don’t fully count as women in any capacity and are a threat to cisgender women, and that’s where all of this stems from.

These good cops we’re always told definitely, for sure exist sure do a good job of flying completely under the radar.

“If you had to guess” you could take two seconds to google this one or even outright ask here in the comments for edification. You’re wrong.

Isn’t the legal definition of “loaded” almost always a loaded magazine whether or not the chamber is loaded?

To be fair, I literally only watched Katya and Trixie Mattel’s YT video talking about it and I know that’s cherrypicking, but it looked absolutely unendurable on every level. I just couldn’t.

Ah, the great leveler at work! It’s honestly incredible to me that any actual company wants to continue tweeting or advertising on that platform, I’m at a point where I’m getting a regular array of “recommended” anti-vax, climate change denial, and anti-trans tweets thrown at me. Very cool

I get that they’re probably concerned about false alarms and all but for fuck’s sake, if someone is talking about a kid at school having a gun I’m mystified as to why they’d just rely on a quick backpack search and go “must have been a silly rumor” versus taking every single report extremely seriously?

I started typing a complaint about how frustrating it is to try and cover british tv with subscriptions (I have acorn and britbox I think? I feel like there are a few more I need) but uh. That’s... american tv, too. Whatever it takes to make sure my parents can watch as much Midsommar Murders and Miss Marple and

Hahaha, the way a woman chooses to live her life and work is a goal post moving. Wow. WOW.

They 100% don’t care. Probably even makes engagement look better since it still appears to me that a lot of the trolls are not in grays so you’re not really able to just dismiss ‘em, so people interacting with them = engagement = ad dollars.

There were so, so many times when I’d describe men I knew as creepy and other men would behave as if slapped; being called “creepy” is apparently one of the worst things for them, and the response was always that I was being unfair to them. My thing is that I’ve been in a few abusive relationships and like a lot of

Definitely also generally true, in that you can find a home for basically ANY opinion relating to crimes. I will say one thing has gotten better to balance out the bad, though “better” is relative: I have a lot of quibbles with how the media operates on this front (being a press firm for the police is ludicrous) but

Right, it’s such a fascinating way of framing it. They enabled him, he didn’t “infiltrate” shit as even their own wording about what would/wouldn’t disqualify hiring him makes it clear that their standards are ridiculously lax. How many cops abuse their spouses again? I don’t even feel like looking up the statistic.

They pride themselves on being so highly educated and willing to see “both sides” that they let themselves get played like violins. We’ve screamed for years: it’s not about bathrooms. It’s not about sports. It’s not about what kids are or aren’t doing. It’s about finding entry points that are easily put forth in front

A sweeping condemnation of the “true crime” fandom and following is a bit useless given the fact that our interest in this stuff goes back centuries; it’s not a new phenomenon. The wrinkle here is that we have more access to information than ever before, and “science” is here to fill in gaps by conjuring up new

Having an extremely hearty laugh over whose comments are automatically sent through on Jezebel and whose are constantly pending. What a wonderful little commentary community you’ve all established here. What fun, what joy, what wonderful CONVERSATIONS we all have here with... attack helicopters versions 1, 2, 3 and 4

A lot of abusive people - a lot of abusive men, even - learned very quickly that all they need to do is simply admit to having issues and the mere act of offering even a sliver of remorse buys them all sorts of goodwill and more significantly, leads readers/supporters into believing change has taken place. For all the

I think it’s that any broader topics along these lines always get flattened into weird fucking things. It’s worthwhile to talk about the fact that nepotism means a lot of people get a head start in life and don’t often acknowledge it or recognize that it’s not just about talent for them, but who their family is and

I’m so glad to hear it,  I’ve been looking forward to this one.

Right. Manson made it abundantly clear that he intended to pursue this in the very manner Depp had. I wouldn’t blame his victims for wanting to avoid whatever shitshow Manson had in store for them. If what Heard had wasn’t good enough (preemptive fuck off to depp supporters), maybe it’s a similar case for others.
