I don’t frequent Lifehacker often enough. Now I know the relative size of a fart molecule and am forever thankful for the knowledge.

I love this place so much.

You listened to Morning Edition too? ;)

It probably will be for some.

It boggles the mind that this has to be spelled out.

Starting August 1 there will be hockey 15 hours a day.  Suddenly daytime TV will be ok.....

For whom is “spirit animal” a cultural term, though? The Natives i know (Northeast north america, mostly) have clans with animal totems, but they don’t hold those animals in particular reverence, nor do they equate “clan animal” with “spirit animal”, as the former is familial, and the latter, personal.

I want to

No, there’s no problem. It’s a really dumb thing to be mad about. It’s about as significant as a non-christian saying “Jesus Christ” when they stub their toe. Who fucking cares?

To be fair, if anyone tried to tell me the phrase ‘spirit animal’ is “cultural appropriation” I’d probably yell at them, myself.

A 12 oz can of soda has about 2.2 grams of CO2. Every hour you exhale about 50 grams of CO2 when healthy, and is capable of ramping that up a lot higher. That doesn’t include removal of acid by your kidneys. You would have to drink a lot of carbonated water to get acidotic from it. I suspect you would get sick of

Genuine question here (I wouldn’t preface this except we are on the Internet): Would some carbonated water be enough to alter blood pH though? I’m no expert, but my understanding was that the body does a pretty good job regulating pH or else we’d be in a lot of trouble, seeing as the margins for blood pH that allow

So cool, although frankly I’m more excited by that awesome TV.

Kotaku is one of the few gaming websites that does actual journalism. It always surprises me at how much the internet seems to hate Kotaku when they’re more often than not gaming journalism at its best. Other sites like IGN and Gamespot usually wouldn’t dare attempt anything like this until they see other websites

Great interview. There are a few interesting things here, but I think my favourite part is how much it humanises Yamauchi. I always got the impression he was a fierce, hard person, but learning he used to get drunk, call one of his employees, and tell him to make shit is hilarious.

I don’t know if this is true or not but originally, the NES wasn’t going to be sold by Nintendo themselves. I remember reading an article once that stated that Nintendo asked Atari, and Atari refused.

Yeah, and what’s the deal with “spices” and “a variety of foods”? All you need to survive is a plate of beans and rice.

Then you shouldn’t drink anything but water because it’s all flavored water.

Seltzer is probably the second least harmful liquid you can be putting in your mouth after regular water. Carbonation causes acid, which is bad, but not as bad as sugar, and about equivalent to the citric acid in most fruit juice, which also has sugar. So - water>seltzer>fruit juice>any carbonated beverage with sugar.

No way! What is the name of this dentist of yours? Dr. Pepper?

Bubly has 10 mg of sodium, La Croix is sodium free; might be the difference you’re picking up in the flavor.
