It’s like Cadillac is a nice version of Buick.

This. So much this. I really want to like current Cadillacs, but they are kind of hilariously terrible in myriad small ways. I get ATS, CTS, and recently and XT6 as rental upgrades reasonably frequently, and they are all nice enough to drive, but there just isn’t any reason at all to choose one over a German car due

The problem with the inside of Cadillacs is that they look great in the photos, and then you sit in one. I really want to like the Cadillac line-up. I think their exterior design is striking. But every time I sit in one, all I can think is that I really want out of there... Like, quickly! Upon close inspection,

[Disclaimer: I install and program home automation stuff.] I will always and forever hate the term “smart home” because it’s usually just describing a better control interface than in years past, whether it’s a programmable keypad, a phone app, or voice control. If I have an assistant, and every day when I wake up and

I know, but I’m also not the one asking the question :) I was just stating the fact that Surya didn’t answer the question at all.

My apologies if I came off snarky, when I wrote that, it was more like that was my personal realization on the matter. The reason smart home stuff is setup the way it is, is specifically because of “this reason.”

Most smart home tech is catered to people who would have a lot of trouble doing any of this.

That’s not an answer though...

Well, I generally buy used cars, so I need people who will buy these fantastic cars new to put those on their cars...

Cayman, Corvette, and a few others are there for us. I’m not a Toyota person but the thought of having a manual Supra would certainly give me a reason to look their way.

I can’t give your comment enough stars, well said.

“A manual is worse than a good, modern automatic in nearly every measurable way, but sometimes, it’s not the things that can be measured that matter most. Sometimes, it’s the involvement and the mechanical connection to the machine and the long path toward mastery of a skill that’s what someone’s after.”

Translation: I am not good at manual so I don’t understand the need for one in a sports car
Fun can’t be quantified. Super/hypercars don’t have them because bragging rights on speed is king, and honestly they’re a bit overpowered for a manual.

The numbers day and age is “now.” Problem is that “now” was once 1976. And it was once 1995. And 2005. And, of course, now.

- I also don’t wear a watch, but respect the craftsmanship of the things and understand the enjoyment owners get from them

I don’t think people are 2-pedal shaming, it’s just that 3 pedals adds a different dimension to driving a car. It makes puttering around at commute speeds an involving task. It makes driving at 6/10ths on a backroad more involving too.

This right here, I was discussing with a salesman that I will not buy a new Audi S4 due to the lack of a manual transmission option. His reply was that “the automatic is faster”, to which my reply was, “how many of these things are running around racetracks trying to gain two seconds, give me a break!”

I’m a software engineer and I still use the command prompt every single day because there are still things I need to do that require a greater level of direct interaction with the machine or are just easier and use less resources that way.

I think it’d be cool if they offered a PRNDL shifter on the column and a bench seat on this car.

Wanting it to be available with a manual is not the same as not wanting it available with an automatic. No one has said that it shouldn’t be available with an automatic.
