I agree. The point of the prose is sort of to be articulate and voluble to a ridiculous extent, which is why I find the weirdly timed and prolonged pauses so out of place and disjointed.

There's something about Patrick Warburton's performance as Snicket that I'm finding jarring. His cadence seems a bit…off? He bludgeons through lines with pace and then finds some odd places to pause. I find it distracting and it alters the tone of his delivery and it doesn't work for me.
The absence of Chauncey from the list is a disgrace.
