Something something Kool-Aid. Merci for the clarification!

All those who said "Kate from Lost" answered correctly.

Staggeringly unrelated question, but did you used to frequent The Cult?

True, but if there was a guy strolling around shooting people, they wouldn't throw things at him in the hopes of knocking his gun out of his hand. They would bring in armed officers who would shoot him - right? I think? I assume there is a specialized unit or something who carry weapons.

I don't understand why Aurors can't use the death curse. Imagine if we sent out police officers with batons and hand cuffs to arrest armed criminals - police academy was just learning how to skillfully throw your baton so as to disarm the criminal.

Allow me to see if I understand this correctly - the AV Club is asserting that Mad Men did not produce one of the best episodes of the year? Not even good enough to be put into consideration? How did I miss this?

I'm currently reading Revolutionary Road. It is outstanding, although I'm pretty sure it will have a depressing final act. It's just too ominous.

I don't know. He always seemed to be trying to make them domesticated and keep them happy. A lot of them probably wanted to be able to have children, and to keep them happy he tried to solve that problem, since he liked to keep them happy/give them the illusion that they could leave.

Jack. I always liked Jack, and yet no one I know really likes him, some even choosing to hate him. I like him, darn it!

This is a bit spoilery, for those of you who might be browsing but not yet past anything save the pilot, but I assumed the answer to the pregnancy question was implied - The Incident (setting off the nuclear bomb) affected the island in such a way as to prevent further pregnancies, probably through some weird,

Yes, I think you can make the argument that if removing 30 - 40% of a show's final season scenes will have no direct effect on the ending/show itself, you have probably made an error. I'm not saying that there aren't important, metaphysical issues of "Look! Everything is okay!" but I actually maybe secretly think

But PS, I think this is one of the greatest network shows of all time. I just hate Kate, I swear!

Kate is a Mary Sue, and thus I despise her.

Ah, right so. Thank you.

I experienced more tension during Don's drunken escapades at the office in "The Monolith" than I have in any scene in Game of Thrones. I felt that there was zero tension in Breaking Bad's finale. The show had already made it clear: of course Walter White is going to win.

I wish I could watch it, but I made a vow in a sternly worded e-mail to AMC that I would never watch any of their new shows after this split season debacle, and I am a man of my word. Alas.

I bought a two volume work of Napoleon's life but I have thus far only read the first half. Why was Wellington so distraught in victory?

That point you make about the hollowness of the moon landing - or at least that it seemed glorious, but didn't lead to a new, great space age - could also indicate that this computer, this glorious display of technology, is also not heralding a new, great era of advertising in which supercomputers solve everything and

I seem to recall Weiner saying that Draper's creativity had actually leaped ahead - that he was already doing stuff that wouldn't become recognized as brilliant until the 70s.

A thing like that!
