Right, I said "increase the messages from guys they might want to date" and then, in the second-to-last paragraph, mentioned that the low-quality messages they're getting will be from people who likely didn't read their profile at all or who would just ignore their list of dealbreakers.

I'm saying that, overall, the goal of women should be to increase the number of messages they get from guys they might want to date, and for guys, it should be to maximize the response rate they get from women they'd want to date.

There's a better solution, though. Let's say that Bill is only attracted to white people. Let's also suppose that, despite only wanting to date white people, Bill is not racist. Bill could be clear about this dealbreaker in his profile, and maybe he could even find the least-racist-sounding way to communicate it. …
