I love Noah Baumbach. I usually love insufferably self absorbed and irritating characters. But Mistress America just felt fake to me. Like I was watching actors reciting lines instead of actual characters. To the point where a line would IMMEDIATELY proceed after another. It took me out of it. You're right about it

When I was thinking over which movies stayed with me over the year I was shocked at how much I remembered from Spy . There's so much that movie does right. This movie's sort of gotten swept under the rug but I don't think we should underestimate the difficulty of making a comedy that's actually consistently funny. Wha

I fuckin love 2011.

But, on the other hand, you have rabbid Star Wars devotees who'll burn you at the stake for expressing any negative opinion whatsoever. When I saw it with my friends I had to do this horrible dance to avoid stepping on toes when I was asked what I thought about the film. I was so ready to love it. I haven't been this

The trailer for Entertainment was scrumptious.

"It's Darth Vader"- My dad, apon seeing Kylo Ren in The Force Awakens

I don't know if I've ever seen a movie's goodwill be undone by an ending as much as it was in The Gift.

Is it really hated by everyone? Maybe by The A.V. Club and cinephiles on the finge but certainly not your average Joe. I personally really liked it. But Into Darkness and the other Abrams movie are the only pieces of Star Trek property I've seen.

Underrated: Um… about half of my top 10.
1. Entertainment
2. What We Do in the Shadows
3. Spy
4. Love & Mercy
5. The End of the Tour

Clouds of Sils Maria is a movie I liked at first for the easy chemistry between the two leads but the more I think about it, the more it feels empty and heavyhanded. And like people have discussed, the film within a film is a glaring flaw. Interestingly enough, I had the same reaction to Birdman, which this film is

Like everyone else, I don't feel like my list is complete enough so I will update it as new movies roll in. For the time being, here is my list.

I generally try my best to avoid bad movies but these were the worst of what I saw:

Top Ten Time Biotch!
It's embarrassing how fun this is for me.

Entertainment: Cake breakdown

counterpoint to your counterpoint to 20V's counterpoint:

How do you not even mention such a bizarre choice like that cover of "You're the One That I Want"?

And this. Being in a drama doesn't instantly mean you're giving a better performance.

Wouldn't it be ineligible because it's a miniseries?

I'm really rooting for these guys.
