Don’t forget the perfect AM2R game. That’s the definitive Metroid game for me now. It’s perfect in every conceivable way. Nintendo will never match that level of quality unless they actually hire that small team.

And then if we’re actually counting legit Metroid side scrolling that’s true to it’s core elements the last game was Zero Mission which was waaaaaaaaay back in 2004. which means we’re 12 years overdue for a game.
