I think a manager in baseball and his steady hand is sometimes taken for granted among the major sports - just fill out the lineup card and let it rip. I’m not the first to say this but I think Dave Martinez is a major part of this problem, the Nats seem to be out coached regularly.

Are you kidding me? Capitalism was the driving force in the world during WW2 as well. One of the main reasons Japan decided to attack us was because we imposed sanctions on them! So much for economic activity being a sufficient disincentive against blowing up, say, Pearl Harbor right?
You do realize that our overwhelmingly powerful military is the reason why we have the luxury of wringing our hands over air strikes that kill 51 people rather than industrialized states routinely slaughtering tens of millions, right?
