I have the same problem and only recently found a solution. Eat with chopsticks. Eat with you non dominant hand. Put down the fork after every bite.

The danger is not artificial sweeteners, those don't cause you to gain weight, actual calories do. The studies that say that diet soda makes you gain weight isn't because the diet soda actually has an effect, it is because people who drink diet soda might be more tempted to eat sugary things.

I envy you on the not having state income tax. But it's still pretty affordable, usually less than $15 and a lot of the info carries over from the free federal filing so it's still a good deal (imo).

Federal Tax prep is free if you're e-filing a 1040 but there's a charge for State Tax filing (if your state requires it). Still, good point, it's free for federal, and if your finances aren't super complicated, then filling it out is pretty easy.
