Just imagine what repair costs are going to be when these cars start to get older. Even simple issues are going to require multiple diagnostic trees depending on which variant you have.

Things weren’t much better up in the Northeast. I was supposed to fly through Boston on Friday, and after everything was canceled, American kept trying to re-book me on flights that were physically impossible for me to get to. I may have been able to get where I was headed some time on Sunday. The only silver lining…
The core issue isn’t competition, but rather the fact that his allocation is going to be reduced. So even if customers choose the plaintiff’s dealership over the new guy, Nissan isn’t going to let him buy enough inventory to sell to them.
Right. People around here would think nothing of re-fitting an old UHaul to cart their LeMons racer around. This is just how you scale that up for your annual trip to Sydney-Hobart.
They already can. But selling a higher spec model makes more profit. Saying you’re going to make less money than you could is no way to get investment money.
I think becoming as commonplace as any other means of transportation is a bit of a reach, but an hour of endurance on a half hour charge is going to make a lot of sense for small regional carriers. The big question is whether smaller airports are going to buy in on charging infrastructure.
I know someone who had one on a white pickup truck back in the ‘90s. When he took it off after a few years the paint underneath it had yellowed.
The parallel hybrid is the bagel sandwich of automotive technology. Take two great ideas and combine them into absolute trash. Hooray for synergy!
Also, lots of pictures. Which I find much easier to scroll up and down through than trying to precisely re-wind a youtube video on a small screen.
I’ve almost always found forum threads to be more helpful than youtube.
Manual transmissions. There, I said it, and I’ll happily turn in my “enthusiast” card. Clutching in stop and go traffic was a literal pain in the ass that I’m perfectly happy never experiencing again.
Yeah, I’m sure this screen unit is used in a ton of other applications. I think in this case the pins are set high, because mounting the screen in the rotated position put the connector closer to where the controller is. It’s an extra potential failure point, but could have saved a few miles of wire over the full…
Like he just realized there’s a difference between firing at an outdoor range wearing ear muffs and inside a car without them. That loud of a noise is going to be seriously disorienting even if you’re the one making it.
Maybe in a stationary car, but if it’s moving I would expect the wind to blow some of that back in.
“How are those resistors affecting what the display is showing — unless, maybe, the computer is checking some resistance values to know the orientation to display?”
Since this is a cold temperature problem, I’m guessing that in the baseline state one of the logic voltages is really close to the threshold. As the resistance of the resistors drops with temperature, the voltage changes just enough to switch states.
I’m guessing that anything touching a vacuum line needed CARB approval, and this just wasn’t worth it.
Panamera. Not because it’s good looking now, but because the original was so heinous there was nowhere to go but up.
Gotta keep that center of gravity low somehow.
Spark plugs on the Fit require a similar approach. Pretty much anything in that engine bay is a three-bandaid job to get to, but at least things don’t need to be done too often.
