The problem with showing the DMV that the car was sold is that you also have to show them taxes were paid. She probably sold the car for cash to someone who chucked the plates and re-registered it with an out of state bill of sale.

Standard static capacity on the Forester (along with the Ascent and Crosstrek) is 700lb, so this isn’t really that much of an upgrade.

None of those cars had remotely competitive lease offers three years ago. However, you would have had to be overpaying my over $200 a month to not come out ahead here.
