Having lived in a high rise: My parking spot was on the 9th floor. Imagine having to drive 9 floors down and 9 more up to go anywhere. Imagine that at rush hour as lots of the residents are getting in and out.

There have been news reports of rental cars triggering an alert when they cross a state line. So some do have GPS trackers installed.

In the 90s in San Francisco, these were a really popular/hip vehicle among some gangbangers and drug dealers, at least in Bayview-Hunter’s Point. They were nicknamed “Hubba Buggies”.
The cops thought it was hilarious - they’d get in a chase with one and it would end up on it’s side.

On one hand, I celebrate the diversity in automotive choices that gives us this car.

I recall a news story about a guy who bought an Insight so he and his buddy could commute together. But their combined weight was over 500 lbs, which exceeded the rated capacity of the vehicle (I’m guessing gross vehicle weight, but it was years ago and I’m not sure).
