If only there were other countries that tried this, allowing us to compare their cost per capita to ours.....
I had a little Kawasaki 150 in college. It was basically a dirt bike with lights to make it street legal. Great fun and easy to ride, it was the perfect bike for a broke student. Picked it up for about the price of a moped.
Thank you! I needed to know what this thing was, to order a replacement. Turns out the one for my Benz will cost a whopping ten bucks.
This is why you have your phone in a jacket pocket, not clipped to the bike.
He might have tried to apply a bit of braking, and bikes don’t like to turn when you’re on the brakes. I’ve gone in to a turn too fast, and just leaned and hoped - and made it. If you follow your instincts to hit the brakes, you’ll run wide just as he did.
Or he could get hit by those flowers that make you permanently stoned.
Except they have repeatedly threatened to attack to defend themselves. That regime is evil but not stupid. You don’t keep a three generation dictatorship in power for 60 plus years by being crazy.
The last serious real world study of EMP effects was in the early 1960s. Likely effects would be on conusumer goods. Power grids would at most be temporarily affected, most corporations have a disaster recovery IT facility located far away. The sheer density of any data center would leave most of the systems immune.

In the south, police pay tends to be shockingly low. I talked to a Florida state trooper, three years on the job, he makes $24,500 a year. There are so many who enjoy wielding power over others that they don’t have to pay much at all to get applicants.
I’m pretty sure they base it on how many people report something, it’s entirely automated and uses a ration of number of reports to number of views.
They let these dickwads quit instead of firing them. Which means they can get another job in law enforcement. I don’t even think they have a mechanism for cancelling their P.O.S.T. certification for something like this (P.O.S.T. is the certification to work as a police officer, think of it as saying someone graduated…
Tell me that I am wrong when I tell my niece and nephew to assume that the white person they are dealing with is racist
The two other bridges into the city, the San Rafael and the San Mateo,
This is some solid reporting. Well written, good use of sources, to the point, illustrates the impact without the need to inject hyperbole.
We now know how many times we came incredibly close during the Cold War to setting off a nuclear exchange.
We really need to get Netflix to put Dr Strangelove on streaming. Never more apropos.
Star Wars is dirty. It feels tangible, real, like something that might actually exist somewhere.
The crowd outside a Cars & Coffee would never hear it coming.
