Not everyone drives everyday.   The car may sit for 3-5 days before its driven. The amount of driving I used to do solar would probably cover all my weekday driving. 

Drive to work, car sits in the sun for 9 hours. Drive home. Charges all the time, not just when plugged in. Charges while driving. Many people only use their cars a few times a week so it adds up. The deck was painted green.  Google images ‘lawn boy brick top’.   Maybe it was magnesium for lighter weight ?  Seems extravagant by todays standards. Most mowers now just have a thin steel pressed deck, which works fine.

Was magnesium cheaper way back when ?  I recall my parents old two stroke Lawn Boy mower had a magnesium deck. 

Having lived in Vancouver this does not suprise me.

These things probably drive like garbage.  Not good for a delivery van or a 4 hour RV trip on mountain roads. Driven a short distance and parked for 10 hours a day and attracting customers with its looks is the right purpose.
