The only “crossover” I would buy is is a Honda Fit. Tons of room in that thing. The Toyota IM or Volvo station wagons too but they are a little pricey.

Yes they last longer in the north. Cold temps slow down chemical reactions. Batteries are rated for Cold Cranking Amps. The problem is when its real cold the battery has less power. And the motor oil is like molasses. And the gas vapour in the combustion chamber doesn’t really vapourize at low temps. Triple whammy.…

Nice project and trip but when I see aerodynamics like that it drives me nuts. Maybe an angled wind deflector on the hood by the windshield ? Duct tape the top of the grill ? How about foam pipe insulation around that square front bumper. You won’t go any faster but you might save 1-2 mpg.

that makes sense, sure, but why not velcro them or duct tape the strap after they have been cinched down for the actual run. GS is still plenty fast for aero to make a difference.
