If you’re going to say “Free tickets and larger stadiums aren’t the reason attendance has increased,” you’ll have to point to some evidence for anyone to believe you. 

Growing attendance could have more to do with larger stadiums, more free ticket giveaways, and other things that have little to do with popularity. I’m not an MLS expert so I have no idea if that’s the case here, but attendance can be a flawed metric for measuring popularity when looked at alone.
