Granted, I don't know the protagonist or the rest of the cast, but I didn't find that remotely as funny or absurd as Forrest's.

Going too far is Andy Daly's MO, though. I agree that this particular episode was off the rails. However, so are the majority of the things that come out of his month in his other roles, so no surprise here that it's bled through into his show.
To each their own, but I think Andy Daly is best when he embraces insanity. His Don Dimello character is over-the-top depraved to an extent I couldn't really take seriously if done by most others, save for Danny Devito or someone similar.
If you haven't already, check out Andy Daly's Podcast Pilot podcast. He takes all the characters created for Comedy Bang! Bang! and makes individual episodes. The one with Don Dimello is Andy Daly at his absolutely depraved best. The Hot Dog episode is also terrific; Matt Gourley's New Zealand accent as Tuna is just…
Get out of my head! I shotgunned the series today as someone who likewise loved You're the Worst despite disliking rom coms in general. If you haven't already or were just put off by the name, I think you'd love Scrotal Recall. It's another British series that reminds me of a mix of the two.
Strong disagree. You're entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts, or whatever. But seriously, I don't share any of the politics that seem to be motivating this series and I still found the pilot stimulating, especially given that it's a USA show, from which I expect garbage. Make of that what you will.
I came out of the woodwork to like this post. (This is the same person as the account Strategy of Conflict. We had a few back and forths during Game of Thrones, among others.)
I hazard to guess that it'd be hard not to be better than Homeland's fourth season. I'm predisposed to liking shows like The Brink and reckon I will like it regardless, but I'm very happy that this series seems as promising as I'd hoped.
Not enough. Although I could listen to Oliver and Salesman — hell, you can even throw in Chris — reading the phone book and still be a happy camper.
I'll allow it. Wouldn't you prefer better actors over realism? It's not like the cast really passed for age-appropriate in the first movie.
It's tough to address your question without being spoiler-y, so let's just say that it is dealt with to the extent it is for a reason that will become clear as you continue the series.
I'm about 2/3rds through and I still can't suss out neither why exactly Kevin hated the eulogy nor why he cared so much that Danny didn't speak at it. I can't say for sure, but I get the feeling this is a loose thread.
Actual question: Are people really not watching this, or are they just not caught up? Because this has some of the best character work on TV (or TV adjacent things). Ben Mendelsohn is superb — who does a better job at coming off as normal while projecting such menace and a deeply troubled past? — and Kyle Chandler is…
To be fair, the seasons have decreased in quality. That's not to say that Season 3 and 4 haven't been great in an absolute sense, but relative to Season 2, they're not as good. Still it's all awesome stuff.
FWIW, I'd suggest starting at Season 2. If you like Banshee, you're likely to get hooked and continue on to Seasons 3 and 4. At that point, if you're still craving a Banshee/Strike Back fix, you can watch the arguably more intelligent — but totally different and not as bonkers — first season.
Great description.
Thank you. Just like any respectable organized crime outfit or guerrilla group. The "board members" remark just seems like an intent at snark to fill up words, but think about the alternative: every cartel or guerrilla organization run by a singularly powerful autocrat, rather than a first among equals, with everyone…
I'm not sober or witty enough to compete with you guys in my present state, so all I'll say is that shit just got real and I'm totally back onboard with this show. Great episode.
This show just proceeded to get extremely gangster extremely fast. Not liking Marlo Stanfield as a mere number two — a Chris, if you will — but I'm enjoying his presence nonetheless.
Thanks for the recommendation. It really is hysterical. I figured it would be another Modern Family-esque sitcom, but it's really quite good.
