God yes, I agree with your mother. Why why why are so many sofas these days using the two wide cushions?! I have a wide ass, but a normal cushion suits me just fine, and it means you can seat three people instead of two in the same amount of space. This thread has me feeling a little paranoid about our IKEA sofa, but I still think we made a good call. It might not last 10 years or even 5 (but hopefully 7 like yours) but it should at least last until we get a house, and then we’ll know what our living room looks like before shelling out for an INVESTMENT.

We’re planning to upgrade the foam on our IKEA sofa if (when) we run into trouble. Does your Ashley sofa have zip off cushion covers? If so, you should be able to order high end foam and some cotton batting and do it yourself.

Those nonslip rug pads are also good for under sofa cushions, btw.
