My problem is that when I’m put on the spot I tend to freeze. It’s so bad that I even forget common words, which makes me sound like an idiot. I often leave an argument feeling like I just made the problem worse because I “lost” and the person I was talking to got to walk away smug.

Exactly. I’m kind of meek and soft spoken and I hate to argue, especially in person, but I’ve been regretting holding back when dealing with conservative family members, and I’m realizing I might need to learn to be more of a fighter even though it is very much not my strong suit.

Trolls are just bigots in denial. They chose the swastika for a reason. It didn’t come from nowhere.

That sounds good, and I appreciate the sentiment, but most of us will have to consider helping in ways that we’re not good at and don’t enjoy.

Aww. I hope you don’t mind if I elaborate- one reason we have the FBI is because the United States is uniquely fractured. Individual states don’t always work together very well, and sometimes Federal (nationwide) law will be different from state law.

There’s a hell of a lot more going on than that in terms of why Hillary lost. Whitelash and misogyny were both huge factors and neither one should be written off in favor of the other. And it’s not because she failed to be “liberal enough” either.
