The amount of #notallsoutherwhitepeople responses I’ve gotten is kind of hilarious. We hear that word less than y’all use it; let’s just be clear about that. Many of you have heard it from your parents or grandparents, at the very least, let alone from a random mix of strangers.

His ability to really listen to everyone and not interrupt, ever, is something I have strived for and envied since I first realized he was no longer the asshole that he was being marketed as a long time ago.

I loved Bourdain’s shows and they’re what convinced me that I should go spend 6 weeks in Japan later this month. This fucking sucks.

So much this! Everywhere he went he would find someone local regardless of where he was and he never ever stepped on their toes. When they talked about issues that the place had or specific cultural traditions he listened, he knew when to shut up.

Bourdain helped usher in some much needed diversity and humility into the food world with No Reservations, and 13 years later the American culinary landscape is a very different place. I probably wouldn’t have a Ramen place in my local suburban shopping center without his work.

From what I have heard, the LGBT & Trans lines have people who work specifically with these issues; so rather than have someone call the main line, then wait to transferred(bad) or talk to someone who may not wholly grasp their issues(also bad), these lines can get you directly to a counselor with experience.
