Those aren't wedged, they are laying flat against the bottom but have a more narrow cut. That cut is called a Brazilian cut. You can see something similar in Victoria's Secret cheeky cut bottoms, but they are more full coverage. FWIW, those shown above give more coverage than your typical Brazilian cut bottom as well.
