"Cool Story, Bro" is an interjection of ennui, a verbal yawn. Maybe you find their story dubious, but boredom is the driving factor. This is more like a "I call shenanigans!" surrogate.

This review confuses me to no end. Almost all of its text feels negative: stupid name, awful story, vapid unskippable cutscenes, annoying QTEs, derivative, linear, and sure to be a disappointment to old school fans. Then the last paragraph seems like it was written by a different person, or written after the Hypnotoad…
"Metroidvania" specifically refers to non-linear Metroid-style game with gadgets that open new pathways, but the epithet typically denotes RPG elements like gear, consumables, and leveling. Cv:SotN started this trend, which continues even today with games like Dust: An Elysian Tail (which is extremely similar to SotN,…
Dead silence.
Hands down, the underwater areas in Goonies 2. Slightly more peaceful than most levels, some were completely bereft of enemies. In most games you cringe when an underwater level is coming, but in this game you breathe a sigh of relief.
For serious. "Oh, Titanic. Was that the one about the fighter jet?"
In my head, he's Native American. I'm way too wussy to play on Legendary so I'm going to pretend that ending never happened.
That was the first thing that came to my mind; unfortunately, he is a criminal. I'd still give Lee a pass as breaking the stereotypes, because he's a very nuanced and ambiguous character, which is a Good Thing. No other black protagonist in gaming history has come close.
Solid article.
If Kinja had an upvote button that affected comment view order, it wouldn't be necessary; but since comments are prioritized by replies, adding sub-comments is the only way to push awesome comments to the top. So you're adding +1 to their comment count. It's fine, really. Just gloss them over.
Ron Talon is still pissed they dropped the triforce standard.
Well done.
Farore bless you, sir.
As I mentioned in another comment, I didn't even realize there was a video because Youtube is blocked by my work. I see the Kotaku banner, the article name, and the body text with nothing in between. Usually there's a reference to a video in the text, but not here. Anyway I will take your word for it.
As I mentioned in the other comment, I didn't even realize there was a video because Youtube is blocked by my work. The screenshots look nice and that's all the reference I had.
Ah okay, Youtube is blocked at my work so I only see text.
Some sort of shake-up to the central mechanic would be nice. Take the Ratchet and Clank games - the first four games were all basically the exact same thing, fairly linear platforming with some mild shooter elements, and then suddenly the fifth game (A Crack In Time) introduced a Mass Effect-esque open world space…
If those screenshots are even remotely reflective of the actual game*, then it actually appears to have some decent production value; this makes it an even more baffling choice to blatantly infringe like this, which will undoubtedly result in the game being scrubbed from Play. They could have easily modeled a…
