I'm sure this factors in. Personally, the lack of availability of emulators was the #1 (and basically entire) reason why I switched from iOS to Android. I guess Apple makes a gamble that by allowing emulation, they'd lose more money to players who'd stop playing crappy phone games than by banning emulators and losing

Oh, you mean "Ground Wood Falsities" and "Singular Flight Beyond The Grandfather Clock Bird Settling?" Those are a couple of my favorites.

Hate to burst your bubble, but it was a Rolling Stones show. http://www.thestrut.com/2012/07/31/beh… If the comment at the bottom is to be believed and the Stones didn't hit the stage until dark, then Paul and David were rocking out to... Skynyrd. Ewwww.

From the wiki:

I'm guessing Big N weighed the prospects of small articles like this one on liberal-leaning sites like Kotaku, vs colossal outrage in the Conservosphere with headlines like "KIDS GAME PUSHES GAY AGENDA," and decided the former would be less damaging. As it typically goes with heteronormativity in the corporate world!

You owe me a Dr. Pepper. Mine is on my screen.

Oh damn. Vivid memory of seeing a demo of that game at Egghead circa 1985. Though I distinctly remember pronouncing it "GATE-o," but now as an adult with a modicum of cultural knowledge it's clearly "GATT-o," Spanish for Cat.

THANK YOU. Was trying to put my finger on exactly this.

My soul agrees @_@

Hey, I saw it on VHS in 1992! That's got to count for something.

No way, "free" gives them carte blanche to shake you down every thirty seconds for stupid iAP shit.

All that flowery language in the '84 article and somehow nobody thought "hey, maybe Arcades will be obsolete because the cutting-edge tech will fit under your TV."

This reminds me of 50s/60s Sci-fi's interpretation of robot speech. They predict robotics with sentient-level intelligence by the year 2000, yet they think

Well-put!

My work computer is indeed an antiquated hunk of junk, but why would that make a GIF run faster? This is a good 30-40 BPM too fast on this comp.

Maybe different browsers run .GIFs at different speeds, but Superstition would be as insane as a Fishbone song if it ran at the speed of this pic in Firefox.

"Unless pushed into classics first (as I'm doing with my kids)"

To be fair, you seem particularly measured and conscientious for someone your age. These aren't usually the first words that come up when describing teenagers, so your experience may not be average!

I find Steam tends to have older games that were fairly popular, because their IP owners have to put in a modicum of effort to post their stuff on Steam. GoG has some of the really obscure stuff that time forgot, because from what I understand they proactively reach out to IP owners, some of whom are fairly apathetic

+1. I love Steam, but GOG is doing such a great public service by keeping so many amazing old games available for the next generation.
