I believe that was my original point.
I believe that was my original point.
It's only all on you if you see blackface and think "look there's a black guy".
Everyone is prejudiced in lots of ways. We have to work at overcoming it. I hope that's not a surprise.
Yeah, pointing out that there is a lot of prejudice in all of us… makes me "shitty". If you say so.
I'm not being sarcastic, FYI.
I know when I see Ferengi I think "not another bumpy nose alien". For a show that's supposed to be about equality, tolerance and peaceful endeavors, it sure invented a lot of races which only had a one or two defining characteristics : /
If people see that nose, hair and beard and think "Jewish" - doesn't that say more about THEIR opinions and stereotypes?
You've just given far more backstory and exposition than is ever given in the films.
Oh man, you're right. Don't get me started.
It's true. She was an elected queen. So why is she a "princess"?
Maybe they can vote for princesses too?
And she's called "princess". Which refers to her real mother, NOT the senator who's protecting her.
"This is a central metaphor of the films."
If we have to make fan-theories (totally "uncannon" too) to explain all the plot holes, then it's blatantly a terrible story and scriptwriter.
The sum of the effects of the first film is: to give Palpatine a promotion.
I completely agree, and I've been thinking that for years.
Which is the best prequel re-edit ever!!
There are so many groaners in these films:
1) I hate sand. It's coarse and gets everywhere.
2) His midichlorian count is… (?!)
3) Another successful landing! [right after hundreds or thousands of civilians with their crash landing]
I think the SFX were - all the CGI, all the blurry light sabre fights, all the chaotic space action scenes etc. - were a huge distraction act. The story in the prequels is flat out awful. Not that the originals were perfect, or made total sense. But they look like Shakespeare in comparison!
That's yet another thing. Obi-Wan runs the absolute worst witness-protection programs.
I know, you're right. That second episode is actually: Star Wars II: Attack of the Good Guys
