Michael Chang did one of those in the finals of the French the year he won it. Although, I think he did it because he was cramping so badly that he couldn’t physically extend his arm over his shoulder.

Brian McCann is NOT going to be happy with that violation of the unwritten rules.

Daily reminder that Bob Ley is a national treasure.

If I go to a gas station to buy hot food, the hotdog is the only option. Everything else they sell (with the exception of taters, of course) is hot garbage.

I think hot dogs are better because even a really bad hot dog is tastier than a really bad hamburger. That said, I’m in the (good!) burger camp.

This is the worst baseball story I’ve ever heard.

Jesus Christ. None of my stories are that bad. In the 8 years I lived there I visited the trip four times and was ready to leave as soon as I walked in. That said, next time you are in the area, the Phillies spring training stadium in Clearwater up the road is amazing and a much nicer place to watch a game.

Worst baseball stadium I have ever been to by a wide margin.

This is not a good take.

Yeah, Floyd could probably be his coach for 5 years, and McGregor still won’t beat him. It’s like a muscle car chasing a Ferrari around a track.

I’m no boxing expert, but just generally, fatigue was always going to be the downfall for McGregor if the script was followed. It’s a new discipline for him that he has to adopt. Everything is effort for him, there’s no automatic, no muscle memory, he’s having to deliberately do everything he’s doing.

Thank you,

Ya know what white supremacists hate nearly as much as not white people?

This was a thing during his first spring training. Apparently, Lou Pinella was openly bitching about Ichiro’s lack of power. It got back to Ichiro, who proceeded to hit 2 long bombs in the next game. He then told Pinella flat out “I can hit .350, or 30 HRs a year. You choose.”

I remember the rant but not the guy. I think Ichiro could probably hit more HRs in his prime than he did. I don’t know about 40 a year. He was a leadoff hitter after all though. He often came up with the bases empty, and you are more likely to get a run for your team by just getting on base, than by swinging for

Barry Bonds has said Ichiro could win the home run derby and Ichiro said in 2007 that he could hit 40 homers if he was allowed to bat .220

Some people said the same about Rod Carew. He had phenomenal power coming up, but at some point in his minor league career decided to sacrifice power for average. Even so, he was capable of hitting the occasional third deck home run. I’d say he major difference between him and Ichiro is he took a lot more walks.

i’ve seen him take BP. i wouldn’t argue with that take, hot as it may be.

Barry Bonds is also on record as saying that Ichiro could win a Home Run Derby if he wanted to. It’s not so much to say that BP dingers are a dime a dozen...there’s a youtube video of him hitting 10 in a row....it seems more a statement that a number of players think that Ichiro could have been an even more prolific

I've seen a lot of guys with great power, but I've never seen someone mark up another guy as severely and quickly as GGG did against Macklin.
