This was my first thought. I am constantly pocket pressing the buttons on my key fob. Luckily, my remote lock system is an aftermarket system which emits audible signals from the fob (both when the button is pressed, and when the car sends a confirmation that the action occurred). I’ve accidentally started my car…

So, alternate hypothesis here. Tesla logs say remote button was pressed 4 times in close proximity to the car. Tesla doesn’t know anyone actually pressed anything. The all-knowing logs didn’t visually record anyone pressing a button.

People with keyfobs often thing something is wrong with the car, when it’s usually coincidence; the keyfob in a pocket or purse, and they happened to be within range when the trunk…

My BMW E39 Key fob is like that. Tight pants and it will open the hatch. Dad’s Buick will do the same.

Tesla’s key fob is like a toy model of the car where clicking on the roof locks and unlocks the door, and clicking on the frunk or trunk open the respective areas on the car. Since the lock/unlock key is the highest point on the model and the buttons aren’t recessed, I wonder if just walking with the fob jammed into a…
