I think you’re missing the forest for the trees, here. X-splaining is a stupid concept in that, in a literal sense, it attacks the value of ‘explanation’, and in a practical sense, it focuses on one group when, as you note, it’s never been specific to one group.
The irritating part of any “X-splaining” is

Did anyone else catch The Juggernaut stirring in the pool, as the group walked away? That little movement, coupled with the Juggernaut’s “Holy shitballs” chorus theme at the end of the credits made me SURE that there was going to be another after credits scene with the Juggs. I was pretty disappointed by the lack

I’m hoping you confirmed that in the credits, because I missed it. It looked like him, but I wasn’t sure.

I didn’t say it was ironic. The quote was to imply hypocrisy, which it absolutely is. Telling people to keep ideas to themselves is as self-contradictory as “Never say ‘never’” or “Only a Sith deals in absolutes”.

Ada Lovelace deserves more credit than she gets, but this is the wrong place to take issue with that. She worked with Babbage on the Analytical Engine. Do you know of any modern computer that works like the Analytical Engine? Any one, at all?

Here’s an idea, if you don’t like someone’s cosplay or whatever [like a comment on the internet?], you can KEEP IT TO YOURSELF.

I agree, and I’m glad that Microsoft is giving this focus. It needs attention, and it’s pretty crazy that something so important has been overlooked so broadly.

Ha! Small victories, I guess. =)

I imagine You. Yes, you. reported my some, if not all, of my comments. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, as they say. I don’t have a ton of faith in the Kinja staff to ever do the right thing (always concerned with making less noise, not fostering good discussion), so I always saw a ban as an inevitability.

This is also my hangup. I love Gilfoyle, and I love Monica. But I’ve also loved Milana since “Let’s talk about something more interesting”, and I’d hate to see her removed from Silicon Valley (however limited her appearances).
