Heroes don’t always feel like winners. But the precedents Mr. Nissan helped set with these cases will prevent other people from having to go through the shit he did. Tale as old as time.

Haven’t read the article yet, but I want to commend the graphic designer on the header image. Awesome design and beautiful execution! GMG headers are often pretty swell, and this one stands out among them. Classic work, y’all!

Nazis don’t NEED a white ethnostate. They just want one. All of their rationale defending that ‘need’ fails in basic argument.
That’s the beautiful thing about discourse - it separates the needs from the wants.

Even if you could, that’s not what I asked. And centrists don’t refuse to fight, by nature of being centrist. I’ve debated for many hours before coming to blows. Fighting is fighting, and discourse is discourse. And your misunderstanding of my accusation doesn’t change my point - it only proves how intellectually

On the one hand: Yu-huh.

And you can’t name any people who killed a bunch of people in the name of centrist, thoughtful discourse. While I could name millions of people who died as a LITERAL direct result of extremists. You know, because the extremists who disagreed with the discourse actually picked up weapons and used them on other people.

Diplomacy that compromises to address the needs of both sides is exactly what centrism is.

It’s impossible to know who was saved because war was averted. But, if you’re intellectually honest, it’s obvious that every time war was averted, many lives were saved. Even if that war was averted by - horror of horrors - centrist discourse.

Yeah, I edited the comment to address the error. Sorry for any confusion.

Nor did it prevent anyone from dying at Xerxes’ command, or Genghis Khan’s, or Alexander the Great’s, or the British, French, or Spanish Empires’.

Again, I’m all ears if you have some examples of people who killed a bunch of people in the name of centrist, thoughtful discourse. As far as I know, that’s never gotten anyone killed.
Extremism, in a variety of forms, on the other hand...

I agree that torturing someone for entertainment is wrong. But, having seen the specials, and having seen the people who were supposedly “tortured”, I don’t see this or those specials as “torture”. This is really much ado about nothing.

I need scissors! 61!

I always find this fascinating, in that I would have liked a little more breathing room, but clearly the majority didn’t care (I assume that was how the execs killed it, after the screenings).

You don’t win conflict through discourse. You win conflict through violence. The point of discourse, and the necessarily centrist compromises that the discourse can facilitate, is to PREVENT conflict.

To be honest - it’s a solid joke. I could have a laugh, if I knew the guy. But when dipshits who want to participate in some violence make it impossible to tell when something like this is a joke, or when something like this is a threat, I have no sympathy for the people posting a “joke” like this. The repercussions

Have you watched what you’re calling “pranks”? I have plenty of empathy for the target, as does Derren Brown. The whole point is that the target gets to see, first hand, how easily they can be manipulated. The audience gets to see it, secondhand, and empathize with how they could probably be manipulated in the same
