Just google “Gender Neutral Pronouns”.
You’ll find multiple sets of them, each with their own pros and cons.
I prefer “xe/xyr”, but I can understand the awkwardness of those words, for some people. If it’s an issue, I like “ne/nir”.

I can’t really go in on the “singular they” idea. It’s one thing to use it as an ad hoc substitute in conversation, but it’s an entirely different thing to dictate it as a rule. It doesn’t make sense to add confusion with a singular “they”, when there are alternatives that work just as well.
