Fine, taxes with regulation and safeguards are inherently good to society. Just because you have the viewpoint of, in your words, an economic illiterate 5 year old doesn’t mean everyone does. My viewpoint includes regulation, but I’ll make sure to spell that out next time.

That’s a massive oversimplification of a civilization which had many issues and stumbles on it’s way too dissolving. Another key component was interruption of macro economic trade with other parts of the known world. But the Roman empire lasted hundreds of years, it wasn’t taken down by taxation alone.

You’re right, being laissez faire will definitely help those small businesses, I remember before the antitrust act in the late 1800's that small businesses could do so well against fucking monopolies.

Taxes are inherently good. They are a check on oligarchy, aristocracy, and power. The fact that, over the past 50 year’s taxes have gone down and income differentials have gone up is no coincidence, it’s causation.
