I’ve been saying literally this (the episode you’re referring to is ENT S1E5 “Unexpected”, courtesy of the Xyrillians) on Twitter, FB and carrier pigeon for the last sixteen hours.

Maybe don’t call him Bat-Dick, yeah?

I really, really want to agree with you. But I can’t.

You are, of course, completely wrong. There can only be one.

What’s a shame is that there is another Alan Moore comic that’s completely perfect for HBO: From Hell.

I’ll be in my bunk.

Gina Torres has been rocking it on Suits for 7 years. She was also starring on another show before Suits, I believe (that I didn’t watch). And that arc on Angel, as Jasmine, so good! I’d say her career is on par with Nathan Filion’s.

I remember seeing a cat in the trailer. So there is a cat, and that s good enough for me ;)

And yes io9 is slowly losing it. But cmon, at least is not Trendacosta. That one hates everything ...

I’ve never heard of this. I googled it and this came up though:

If Moore could stop being crotchety for a minute

Counterpoint: Hero fantasies are dumb, reductionist, and harmful. Our society engages in them in increasing volume and zeal. Watchmen isn’t gritty, its an examination of how superheroes would/could be in real life. Even at their most well-intentioned it can end up monstrous. Even Dan tacitly signs onto Veidt’s plan at

I feel like he needs to take all the moneys so that the venture is less profitable for Warner.

Well, Mark Millar just seems to do it to be “edgy.”  Moore’s early superhero comics were inventive without so much self-regard. His and Alan Davis’ early Captain Britain run still blew me away the first time I read it a good 20 years after the fact. I’d love to see that adapted over another attempt at Watchmen.

Wow, I was (guardedly) looking forward to this, as Watchmen is one of my favourite books, full stop. But I can’t refute anything you are saying here. Subsequent works (and adaptations!) have really underlined your argument about superhero darkening a la Kingdom Come.

They could have gender swapped any/all of the characters without changing a single word of the story, and it would have been believable.

This.

Oh, absolutely! I can’t wait for the books and am enjoying the show for what it is.

I think at this point, we have to let go of a lot of book happenings because it seems like D&D are playing fast and lose with character arcs**, here (because I agree: book Tyrion is a whole lot more clever and would have probably figured it out).

Tyrion has been pushing Dany and Jon together since the latter arrived at dragonstone, so I don’t see him being jealous.
