It is interesting how people remember the DCEU Superman as being a lot less heroic than he was. Because the DCEU Superman did save a lot of people, but he was just written as such a distant, and somewhat grim, character.

No one was a hero in the DC Universe. Superman was forced into defending Earth then killed Zod. Batman wanted to kill an innocent person in BVS and endangered a child in The Suicide Squad. Even Wonder Woman’s first film had her murdering the wrong guy. When Hawkman told Black Adam that “heroes don’t kill” while

Nobody is having a good time. Superman is practically Christ

Snyder never understood that the big impact of Superman becoming a bad guy comes from him being a ridiculously good guy, first. If Superman’s a benevolent god in the Big Blue Boy Scout mold, then him being driven to villainy is tragic, and heartbreaking. It’s the biggest swing in fortunes imaginable, Earth’s greatest

He doesn’t want Supes as a hero, which to me fundamentally misunderstands the character.

Snapping Zods neck was a good thing for the character, it was the sign of a good villain to take the hero the to extreme.

I want the DC films to succeed, but when I hear plans about plugging Wonder Woman into a Game of Thrones type series, I wonder how much creativity is going on. And Green Lantern is going to be a police procedural. It’s like they are just trying to copy proven past formulas

Uncle Ben wasn’t explicitly mentioned, but when Peter was talking about how he didn’t want May to find out about being Spider-Man he obliquely referenced him with a line that was something like, “It’s already hard for her with everything that’s happened this past year.” It was the MCU’s version of saying, “hey, you’ve

oh, I know, but (for example), that Viking god is explained by establishing that it comes from a culture with tech so advanced that it looks like magic, and the Witch comes from scientists experimenting with her. It’s not hard sci-fi in the least, but there’s some grounding at work here. You can’t really do that with

I know that this is a minority view, but I really, really hate the rainbow of rings.

If it was truly “once and for all,” they’d recast Amanda Waller.”

Zach Snyder? is that you?

Snyder had to basically change Batman’s entire character and make Superman stupid in order to get them to fight.

hmm.

Zack Snyder has a hard-on for Superman being a villain. It’s where he has been trying to take the character during his entire “reign” as DCEU director. He had him fight Batman in BVS, then he went crazy in Justice League, and of course in his extended epilogue of the Snyder Cut, he’s just straight up the bad guy.

DC didn’t give its heroes a chance to be heroes.

The person I feel bad about in all of this is Cavill who seemed genuinely excited to be coming back to the role, only to have everything completely dashed a few weeks later.

Are you really full on in the comments talking about who will return for the third season before you even watched the finale??

Hearsay suggests that most of the people who are staying are on work visas or something similar? But I can’t say how accurate that is.

The complaint about the show’s graphic depiction of labor is strange. House of the Dragon, like Game of Thrones, is a show where a lot of violent things happen. Unlike Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon is to a significant extent a show about women. The central conflict on the show is between two women, with a third
