The problem with generic morals is... everyone thinks they’re the good guy.

Actors these days often have contractual obligations to promote their work on social media. For example, Wu, signed on to Crazy Rich Asians 2 years ago, before any of this, and her contract from then may have stipulations about her promoting the film online.

TBH that would be my #1. I think after some time, people will see Scorsese’s contemporary work with Leo as equal to his “classic” period with De Niro. Leo in Wolf of Wall St is probably the best male acting performance this century.

you are not wrong, maybe at the worst naive. lackeys probably run her social media, or at least should, what’s the point of being a ‘celebrity’ if you can’t be shielded from the dirty poor’s and their opinions?

Eh, you are somewhat wrong. After a suicide attempt the immediate goal is certainly safety and limiting acute stressors. But, safety planning is also about what to do when you do face triggers, because it’s usually not realistic to simply avoid them all. Social media is obviously something that can (and likely should?)

I mean, at least celebrities have an actual reason related to their career and fan base to be on social media.

Did this in a hipster bar in DC in the mid-aughts. Was there with my wife hanging with her coworkers and satellite friends that were pretty insufferable. My best friend came by the say “Hi.” We proceeded to feed a digital jukebox a $20 bill and selected all Slayer songs. Bar tender came to us about 15 minutes later

I thought I was being a completionist on it by watching all season last year, thinking it would get canceled because it was so bad. I’m going to try to avoid watching season 4 unless I hear really good things

It’s even more hyper-kinetically batshit bonkers than that. As profound as it is preposterous

But then it diverged to a more predatory and manipulative model, probably somewhere in the ‘50s or ‘60s.”

Nobody distorted Hubbard’s message and used it to abuse people and such. That was Hubbard’s intention from the beginning. He was mad because the psychology community shunned his ideas, so he went and made up all this shit and used it to a) make money, b) feel powerful and smart, and c) abuse people. A great deal of

Didn’t MTV go off the air in the mid 80s?

The Scieno cult isn’t a religion, and they’re not “a balm” in any way or shape; they’re a bunch of fucking emotional (and economic) vampires and scammers who abuse and exploit their victims through methods ranging from mindgames to outright blackmail and even kidnapping.

Xenogears is one of my favorite games of all time (30+ years of gaming)....however I can admit that the amount of exposition to begin disc 2 was pretty crazy.

Now I want to edit BvS to see if this idea is viable. I know “less is more” is blasphemy to Snyder but that framing of yours would have elevated the narrative substantially, especially if the first time you see Supes clearly is when he “dents” Bat’s car.

To be fair, that came when Olivier was fully in the, “You guys are paying me in cash, right?” stage of his career. From what I’ve read of him, the techniques he used in the 30s and 40s were annoying to the old-timers of that day.

The whole “posting the filename of an image instead of an image” gimmick really bugs me.

Copypasta makes actual sense, though, as it’s material that’s been copied and pasted.

And snarking about Sam Barsanti, which is probably why he’s still here because he drives engagement.

For real. His review wasn’t that damning, but the pile-on this guy was ridiculous. The reaction to his review alone will ensure I never watch this movie.
