I finally rolled credits on Baldur’s Gate 3. What a ride.

Gotta have something they can put on Sony Core, I suppose. You can only watch that Gran Turismo movie so many times, after all.
Wait...award show monologues are supposed to be funny?!? I’ve rarely seen it in my lifetime. Mostly, they seem to be reheated bits of late-night talk-show monologue fodder, with maybe some light jabs at the celebs in the audience thrown in for the reaction shots.
Oh, I’m pretty sure it’s been there for a while:
Out of morbid curiosity, I disregarded Paul anka’s advice and watched for a minue or so. I couldn’t bear to go much longer, lest I lose all self- respect. The disclaimer is the dumbest thing, though. Outside easily-impressed rubes, I’m not sure anyone is buying the “just an impersonation” line. You know who would have…
AV Club responds: “Nope, sorry, we got to drag this story out a little longer. You remember how many articles we got of The Slap. Let’s see if we can beat that!”
Really, the joke’s on him at this point. He can call it X all he want, but people are still going to call it Twitter. I mean, it’s been quite some time since his rebrand and it still gets cited as “X, formerly known as Twitter” in articles regularly. Learn the lesson the Kleenex people presumably learned some time…
I haven’t seen Hollow Knight: Silksong on any of these “most anticipated of 2024" lists, so I guess we’ve given up on the pretense that it is coming out any time soon?!? I mean, I am willing to give Team Cherry as much time as they need to finish this, but the fact that they *had* a 2023 release date in mind at some…
To be fair, I’ve only seen the Taylor Swift bit, but it really seemed like a run-of-the-mill toothless celeb-roasting joke, albeit with subpar delivery and timing. Taylor’s lack of big reaction doesn’t help; the usual celeb reaction schtick is an overexaggerated bit of laughter or a performative pretense of shock.
I’m definitely seem to be nearing the end of Baldur’s Gate 3, as I am seeing a lot of character plotlines pay off*, usually after a big boss battle. Unfortunately, the game seems to be crashing a lot during combat recently; I’m assuming it is something to do with Hotfix #15. I particularly enjoyed Asterion’s moment of…
After slapping Chris Rock onstage at the Academy Awards, Will Smith returned to the stage to accept his Best Actor Oscar for his performance as Richard Williams, the father of tennis players Venus and Serena Williams, in the biographical sports drama King Richard.
Of the 6 episodes I’ve seen so far, the Die Hard homage and Sakaar Wacky Racers are definitely the weakest of the bunch. Not necessarily bad, but they feel like the kind of thing that would be a 2-4 page backup story in a comic book.
It is an option compulsize gamblers can take to limit their access to gambling opportunities. They are supposed to bar them from entry completely (for a set amount of time), so it seems a little sketchy (and possibly illegal) to refuse them service after they have won money.
Yeah, I’ve fallen out of favor with a lot of serialized TV, because the popular design seems to be parcel out one storyline over a season’s time, which means there’s a lot of wheel-spinning (and maybe some inconsequential side-plots) in between the start of a season and the end of a season. I don’t binge often,…
I mean, the Playstation *does* have a GamePass-esque service—Playstation Plus Premium*—though I’ve never used, so I couldn’t tell how it stacks up.
You don’t harp on it enough, as I agree with you wholesale. I have friends who are fans of the series and I always get shit for my indifference—not even dislike—of the series. It just does nothing for me. Even compared with other slashers or horror-comedies, it doesn’t distinguish itself on any way save its production…
Modern game design seems to emphasize frictionless gameplay (though not necessarily frictionless UI and menus, to say nothing for whatever game-launching or matchmaking service present), but at a certain level of complexity, it is not always possible. Western-style RPGs* will always tend to come with a degree of…
Games Workshop has been pretty smart for a while now with their Warhammer 40K videogame adaptation liscening. I’m not sure it’ll transfer to more people actually coming into the high-buy-in tabletop version, but it is good to see them understanding the value of their IP in the videogame space.
Mind you, I’m kind of a grinch, so I’m not a big fan of many Christmas songs, but Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmastime” tops the list of worst for me. It is just the laziest damn song, a lot of the runtime eaten up just repeating “Simply having a wonderful Christmastime”. It is just torture to listen to.
I really shouldn’t such perverse joy from ideological schadenfreude, but I really love the idea of some MRA bros going to see it and losing their shit about how they were tricked into learning about “women’s studies” afterwards.
