I’ll take your word that Expendables 2 “genuinely understood the assignment”, since I haven’t seen it, but I found the first one godawful. Outside the novelty of “oh, look, we got all these action stars together in one film”, it was just a dreadful, poorly-shot mess.

Too bad their breadstick are either too soggy, too salty, too buttered, or all of the above.  I should know, as I used to work as a prep cook for them back in the day.

I mean, was there any reasonable expectation that the new title sequence would?!? Hell, the whole point of that sequence is to show you stuff that *might* happen, mixed in with a bunch of stuff that won’t...yet.

In order to know what’s happening in this game, and why series star Liu Kang has gone from a regular guy to the zombie king of Hell to the all-powerful god of fire, you actually need to know what’s been going on in these games for the past decade.

Oh man...you just reminded me how depressed I was when Shepard’s (re: my) stupid actions got Tali killed.

Fair enough.  I haven’t played it yet, so I guess I just made an assumption.

I think what bothers me more is how these RPG relationship simulators always seem to center on the protagonist. Sure, you’re literally the one driving the action, but it always gives the impression that the NPCs have no lives outside you. I’d like to see an RPG that has unseen stats/flags in the background, either

I will honor the spirit of the strike by not doing a monologue, desk piece, New Rules, or editorial, the written pieces that I am so proud of on Real Time.

Yeah, that “waiting until they’re legal” thing was all over my friend-group and I always found it extra creepy. It’s one thing to indulge in this as a sort of private fantasy, but to actually open your mouth and say such things...I don’t get it. I mean, I’m no prude and I understand that guys at that age are usually

I hope they succeed in opening this up to a wider US audience—it sounds delightful!—but they should be wary of people’s preconceived notions about foods they are unfamiliar with:

If you just want to play the games, I think the Playdate SDK has a Simulator included.  I’d put the link here, but my work computer blocks the site.

You probably need new devils!

After nearly forgetting that I had ordered one over a year ago, my Playdate handheld showed up several weeks ago. If you, like me, have forgotten about this, I won’t go into full refresher here, but if you want more detail, you can always check out Hughes’ informative review:

I enjoyed it a lot when I was a young lad; I held onto the password they give you at the end to port your progress into the sequel, but it never was made.

Gonna have to catch this on Hulu later, since Disney chose last night of all nights to pull all their channels from Spectrum Cable.  I’m sure it’s mostly a play to rake Spectrum over the coals over ESPN (which I don’t give a shit about), but I guess I’m getting caught in the middle of it.  Spectrum is playing up the

Maybe MTV could do something  outrageous and outside-the-box programming involving music?!?  Just an idea...I’m not sure where I got it from.

Ages ago, when the AVC first opened up comments on the site, they snarkily billed it as “Now Tolerating Your Opinions”. What was a joke then seems to get more real on this site by the year. Some of this can be laid at the feet of Kinja, but I think another part of it is that very few writers actually engage with the

I’m going to have to disagree on where this list places Kingdom O’ Magic. That game shouldn’t be in the top 10 best, but it deserves an honorable mention as one of the best.

Are you going to continue this as a regular feature?  Outside Inventory and Streaming Guides, there’s not much in the way of regular features around here anymore.  It would be nice to see some more longer-form writing here that goes beyond a hot take or a simple thesis.
