Is that Kirby in the background?

I think I heard about Roadwarden at some point, but forget to add it to my list of games I want to try, so thanks for putting it back on my radar. Signalis is probably worth checking out at some point, too.

Why people are jizzing themselves over this movie is beyond me.

The tradition of past years has been for the commentariat to make a case for any game they thought was not represented here, usually following the format of “I liked [X] because [compelling reasons]”.

I really, really wanted to like Citizen Sleeper—the writing is thoughtful, the characters human, the artwork gorgoeus—but I just found the gameplay so tedious. Finishing with what probably qualifies as one of the better endings, the journey there is littered with skill checks that fill up sections on a wheel that will

Infinaut is from the very good volume 3 of Ultimates, written by Al Ewing. It has Galactus’ brief stint as Galactus the Lifebringer, who at one point punches Lord Order, a cosmic being who is the embodient of order in the universe (Duh.):

IMHO, S4 WWDITS was pretty underwhelming, save the Lazlo-Colin plotline, so I would put the finale’s rendition of “Sunrise, Sunset” over the opening credits (in lieu of the usual “You’re Dead”) as the best moment of the season.

I thought that was the demographic they were aiming at already, given their commercials.

Glass houses, AV Club, glass houses...

I have a tendency to play my comfort game The Binding of Isaac, rather than starting on anything in my backlog, when I come home stressed-out from work, but last week’s WAYPTW gave me the kick in the ass I needed to try out Pentiment...and I’m glad I did.

I think he is vastly underestimating the value of performance when it comes to mo-cap.  Maybe Marvel isn’t the top of the game for CGI effects--I have seen places where they cut corners--but I think Brolin brings such weight and gravity to what could easily have been a ridiculous big bad; I mean, he’s a big purple guy

I’m not going to drive the point into the ground, but I will continue to insist that just because a narrative element is not explicitly laid out, it doesn’t mean that it isn’t there.

I’m pretty sure the Oscars would, too.  All the prestige isn’t really helping them draw in viewer, after all.

YMMV, but I would say the lore and narrative are inextricably tied to each other. Apart from the whole “Arise, ye Tranished!” preamble and a few NPCs giving you some exposition and direction, there’s not a lot of explicit narrative, but I implicit narrative in the design and the item descriptions. True, this “lore” is

If you want proof that what FromSoft does could be classified as narrative, just check the many, many lore channels on Youtube. Granted, part of that is probably that people just can’t help themselves from speculating on any bit of incomplete information in fiction (the driving engine behind a lot of Lost fandom!),

Maybe it’s a very specific regional thing, but I’m from MN and I’ve never had/heard of Frog Eye Salad (from the description, I’m not sure I’m that interested in it either!). I’m very familiar with Ambrosia Salad and I’m sure I’ve had some variation of Jello Salad before (carrots suspended in Jello, at any rate).

I thought he already did that in Birdman.

I might’ve enjoyed Moon Knight more if I wasn’t so annoyed by the Steven Grant persona from the start.  “Oh, I’m so quirky!  I have problems with sleep-walking/waking up in strange places, so I tether myself to my bed!  I could seek a therapist and tell him about my problems, but instead I tell a living statue!

I’m still working my way through my much-belated first-time playthrough of the 2018 God of War. I finally got the Blades of Chaos—I always just called them “chain-swords” in the old games—which is a nice nod to Kratos’ previous history as the master of mass-deicide. Combat remains chunky*, even with upgraded weapons

I think a lot of credit goes to Brolin’s performance for elevating him beyond generic Big Bad collecting McGuffins. He give the role so much gravity and weight that you slightlt symapthize with him; this is a holy crusade for him, but still, this is a obligation that wears on him. For comparison, you could just look
