I just finished a fan-translation of the GBA game Mother 1 + 2, running off my Retropie. If you can’t tell from the name, it’s a 2-in-1 pack featuring a port of the Famicon RPG Mother (sometimes known as Earthbound Beginnings) and the Super NES RPG Mother 2 (known as Earthbound for the English release). Only the

(and honestly wouldn’t mind if someone made a third person action RPG that had all that without the fighting being *quite* so tricky)

Update:  unless I did something wrong, the Chipotle one only gives you a free side of Queso.

Chipotle’s hot-nonsense Bitcoin sweepstakes is even worse. Am I some outlier on the Venn diagram between Chipotle consumers and Bitcoin aficionados?

I always thought the trailer for the last Suicide Squad suffered from a strong case of the try-hards. “Look at how edgy and irreverant we are! Look, we’re playing retro music tracks just like those Galactic Guardians all you kids like! Could you turn this into one of those....whatchacallits...’me-mes’ on social media?”

People like to lay the blame on Gacy or Pennywise for making clowns creepy, but, honestly, I’ve always found them off-putting, from childhood all the way to current day. It’s like some weird grotesque of humanity.

I floated this idea ages ago, but I’ll repeat it here: even if they choose not to cover it, couldn’t they just make a discussion post for new episodes (like the Pop Culture Weekend posts)? It wouldn’t require that much work on their part and it would need minimal promotion (fans eager to discuss the latest episode

It really does lend itself to the format better, doesn’t it?  Since this had several distinct subsections (rather than the usual one listicle to rule them all), it actually reads a little better broken up like this.

Am I the first nerd to point out that the Torres character is in reference to this guy in the comics:

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to snap this one up in the soda aisle. Pepsi Apple Pie is only available via the #PepsiApplePieChallenge sweepstakes. Beginning today, fans can enter to win their own bottle of Pepsi Apple Pie on Pepsi Twitter or Pepsi TikTok. All you need to do is follow Pepsi, then submit a photo or

I’m sure it’ll be fine. I’m not so excited about the flavor itself, but rather about the fact that they are just releasing it as a new product rather than making it Twitter/TikTok “challenge” (in other words, do our advertising for us!) limited-edition nonsense. Stop teasing us, brands!

Sorry. I didn’t mean to sound negative. YMMV, different quirks for different jerks, etc. It has been receiving a lot of critical praise—the AVC included—and while I can appreciate her musical talents, it just doesn’t register for me. Like I said, it may be something I come around on years down the road. Just last

I keep trying to get into Penelope Bridgers, but it never quite clicks. Her performance always just feels a bit too mannered and anemic. Maybe I’ll relisten in 5-10 years and suddenly I’ll hear it.

Give us the Calculators of old

(not what the Twitter discourse turned it into)

Now that she has the go-ahead on divorce from one advice columnist, I presume she is just going to ignore Dan’s advice.

Ahh...that old bigot canard:  “I can’t be racist!  I just green-lit a movie about a black Superman!”

I did finish the book, but, yeah, I didn’t quite get the hype. It’s authentic and written while the author was behind bars, which should be laudable, but...it just didn’t grab me. The protagonist is such a listless personality vacuum that I just had a hard time rooting for him. Maybe I just don’t read enough memoirs,

There might be some detractors that say Bob’s Burgers has become too formulaic, but that episode last week that was just a bunch of cars circling a racetrack showed that they can really break the mold when they want to.  It was a terrible episode--I didn’t laugh once!--but you can’t fault them for their commitment to

I’m not a big Star Wars fan—I’ve yet to actually watch the prequels in their entirety—so it has been amusing in a “watching an alien culture” kind of way to see the old-guard fandom shift their ire to whatever the current “worst thing that has ever happened to Star Wars” (as well as rehabbing the image of stuff that
