I presume he probably thought it was just an apolitical ad campaign. We can see the end-product (or, rather, we would have if the campaign actually went through) and it seems like a terrible idea, but he didn’t necessarily have full knowledge of everything involved going in. I mean, if celebrities and other performers…
And who says the Republicans aren’t cool?!?
Stay safe, stay sane, my brother-in-arms!
Depressing thought: Even if we vote the bum out, it’s going to be some time before the effect of what he has wrought (policies, corruption, courts, discourse, etc.) will start to fade away. I just hope that I will live long enough to see history turn him into a joke. Unless he wins and things just get worse...then I…
That’s kinda been my take, too, with bigots and other people I have a strong disagreement with, including Trump voters. There seems to be this idea that you have to immediately cut those people out of your life/feed/whatever, but it’s seems counter-productive and it just ends up shoving people further into their own…
When you a kid (especially in a small town), your friends are going to end up being whoever lives next to you or will sit with you at lunch. It’s not always an ideal situation (I’ve pretty much lost contact with most of my childhood friends). Once you’re an adult, you can afford to be choosier.
I could see the use of speed reading if it’s a textbook that one has to get through for school, but regular leisure reading...no thanks. I’ll take my time and savor it. There’s a non-zero chance that I’ll go to my grave not having read every book I ever wanted to and I’m fine with that.
They had a limited edition Key Lime filled Twizzler that I liked quite a bit.
Black licorice lover here as well. Neither Twizzler nor Red Vines really do licorice right , in my opinion (I do like the Chocolate Twizzlers, though). I’d rather go with some fancy-pants brand—usually the “Aussie style”—if I’m going to have licorice.
Man, Halloween is probably my favorite holiday; it doesn’t have the same onerous obligations as the other major holidays. That said, I have largely blanked on the season up until just this morning, when I thought, “Oh yeah, it’s just this weekend!” My mind has just been on this damn election, I suppose.
Before this year, I’m sure the studio execs scoffed at the idea that a global pandemic could wreak so much havoc in our modern age. Thanks, Trump/[insert your least favorite world leader here]!
It does seem like Jones got the shaft from the new showrunner (and possibly the cold shoulder from the rest of the cast?), however...his character was next to useless in S2. Granted, it wasn’t the worst problem with S2 and they really could’ve dumped him with far less acrimony.
As I got older, I’ve expanded my palate, but I have hung onto a couple of my childhood “picky eater” (I’ll own it) habits, although I would like to submit that my opinions on the following are correct:
Good on Joel and friends for trying to make a difference. The shorts were often my favorite part of the old show. “A Case of Spring Fever” is my go-to one for whenever I need a laugh. It’s a pretty strange short, even without the commentary.
Right?!? When I first heard about this, I thought maybe this was a crowdsourced solution, where people update the app on whether their local McD’s machine is working or not. Then, I read the part about the bot and...yeah, it’s another one of those engineer* solutions, where they assume they can just use technology to…
Honestly, I’d rather venture out in the cold than use a stationary bike. Every time I’ve ever tried using a stationary bike (even the really high-end ones), I can never find a satisfying resistance level that feels right: too low and it feels like I’m just spinning my (imaginary) wheels, too high and it feels like I’m…

I racked up a whole bunch of debt in my youth—school, jobless periods, the general irresponsibility of youth—so I’ve just avoided credit completely since then. There have been times since then I’ve been desperate for cash, so I would do a payday loan (which, I guess, is *technically* credit, but not in any practical…
Yes, it was a stupid idea to start with, but I’m still kinda surprised it failed so spectacularly. Didn’t they have an insanely long free trial period? I remember hearing it was 90 days long. I suppose that just meant people signed up for the free trial, gorged themselves on everything they were interested in, and…
