I'd rather have an M3 crossover than an M7. I'd really like the M3 GT to just be a faster M3 made of racecars, though.

I'll wait on passing final judgment on the interior until I see it in person, but I'm not a fan based on the two photos. I hate the floating screen. And holy hell, why does every car have to keep getting bigger? It would probably be 330 lbs lighter, if they had kept the dimensions the same.

Seems pretty great up against the Germans and really great considering the price-point competition. Hopefully the local dealer will get one in soon so I can drive it.

Things you probably can't drive without some sort of Jalopnik help:

Looks like Cadillac and Mercedes will have the two funnest cars in the 3 series' class. WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT EVERYONE EXPECTED.

I didn't find the BMW I4 to be that bad sounding. The A4 has the only 2.0T that sounds right in the entire class, but the BMW's wasn't bad. The ATS has an absolute shit sounding I4. The BMW's is not a particularly smooth engine, though.

If it's me making the rules, they are "close to 3,000 lbs, RWD, impossibly smooth to drive, and most of all, fun. The new 3 series does not check all of those boxes. It's probably closer to an E46 than it is to an A4, but it's not fun. Not even in 328 M sport trim, with the adaptive suspension, and all the carbon

This is the closest thing to a real BMW that you can get from BMW anymore. Too bad the "under $50,000" will mean "about $46,000, if you want a well optioned, but not loaded fast one"

Is the N/A 3.6 the slow engine, then? I haven't seen a dyno, but I imagine the 2.0 turbo is out-torque-ing it by a pretty wide margin over the entire rev-spectrum. As far as noise pumping goes, does the 2.0T still sound like a bag full of disinterested Corolla engines? I drove ATS Premiums with the 2.0T against the
