The Hole In Things
the-hole-in-things

Lately I've been eating Oreos with hummus.

It was apparently reported today that since the election, Trump has only accepted two intelligence briefings. I don't know if he's a Russian sleeper agent or just someone too intellectually lazy to do the job of governing and I'm not sure what difference it makes.

The third daily double ("What is Enterprise?") was also insultingly easy. And she still got it wrong!

I think the contestants probably think if they're on Jeopardy they should stick to a "serious" category like "Art" instead of one about TV and/or sci-fi, even if they aren't that good at it.

Hey, go easy on him, he was probably tripping bear balls for most of the show.

Jeff Sessions is basically a real life version of Howell Tankerbell.

It Follows.(Although, admittedly, I probably don't watch enough horror movies.)

I don't know. "When they go low, we go high" is a nice sentiment but it didn't win the election. The Democrats should compromise where they can but they also need to be willing to fight dirty.

I'm sure Trump will get back to them once he and Putin have finalized the details of our surrender.

If you take the vowels out of "Reince Priebus," you get "RNC PR BS."

They're obviously based on the Nazis but the Nazi resemblance seems sort of superficial.

I really have no idea what point you're trying to make here. This is a website that focuses on pop culture and often takes a look at it through a political lens. No one is making you participate in this discussion.

We lost because of discussions about Star Wars? This website is devoted to coverage of pop culture. If you think so little of it than why are you here?

I think it's because when most people see Vader they think "weird space wizard in a robot suit" instead of "Nazi." The characters who more overtly resemble Nazis, like Tarkin, aren't nearly as prominent.

Seriously? But both the old EU and the new canon established that the Stormtroopers aren't clones! Many of the Stormtroopers aren't the same height and none of them have the same voice as Jango Fett!

Why not? We can have discussions about popular culture and still deal with the real world.

The First Order is definitely more diverse than the Empire. I think the lack of (human) racial diversity in the Empire is more because the movies were filmed in the UK in the 70's than an intentional statement about their ideology. The Rebel Alliance is also pretty white in the OT.

There definitely seems to be racial tension in the GFFA but it seems like it's more between humans and the various aliens. It seems like the series hasn't really touched on real world prejudice.(Also isn't there a black, female Imperial officer in the new canon?)

Well, the Empire did phase out the clones shortly after their formation.

"Please note that the Empire is a white supremacist (human) organization"
