My college set off firework to celebrate the school being 100 years old. They sent letters to every house in the mostly black neighborhood letting them know exactly when and where it would be happening. The police got flooded with calls because they thought the fireworks were gunshots.

These are students, not people in the general work force. Students are eligible for all kinds of scholarships, loans, and grants to pay for their education AND expenses while enrolled. And nothing is stopping them from having a separate job.

All of the vets I know love fireworks. Why are you assuming the ones living near U of C have PTSD? That’s something, not racist, but some kind of -ist along those lines.
